UNESCO Poland Fellowship Program 2024 – Details

UNESCO has announced 30 fellowships for the benefit of several developing countries (member states). Researchers/candidates (the beneficiaries of the fellowships) will be provided with an opportunity to undertake an individual research program in the areas (fields) of science, technology, and engineering for a period (duration) of six months between 1^st October 2024 and 31^st March 2025.

Fellowship Duration and Place of Study

For the UNESCO/Poland Co-Sponsored Fellowships in Engineering 2024 edition, the duration will be six months and will be conducted at the AGH University of Krakow in Poland, UNESCO AGH Chair (A. Mickiewicza Ave 30, PL 30-059 Krakow, Poland).

Eligibility Criteria for the UNESCO Poland Fellowship Program 2024

If you like to apply for UNESCO Fellowship 2024, you need to meet the eligibility requirements. Applicants/candidates are required to check details for the specific criteria and qualifications required by each project and field of research.

Associated Financial Benefits Under UNESCO Fellowship Poland

There are facilities offered by both – the Polish Authorities and UNESCO if you are successful in getting this fellowship program.

Polish Authorities Facilities

Based on the local regulations, you will receive free tuition and access to the university facilities.
A monthly allowance amounting to 1800 PLN will be offered to BSc students and 2200 PLN for MSc degree students. It should be noted that all living expenditures plus accommodation in Poland during the fellowship program will be borne by the fellows with this allowance.
There will be a one-time special allowance amounting to 1800 PLN will also be offered to BSc degree students or 2200 PLN to MSc degree students. It will be paid once the fellows arrive in Poland (for 6 6-month period). This amount (sum) will be provided for the coverage of various activities relevant to fellows’ stay in Krakow like an obligatory medical check-up upon arrival (according to the internal regulations for all students), historical, cultural or touristic visits, workshops, conferences, and seminars relevant to fellows’ studies.

UNESCO Facilities

UNESCO will provide travel coverage to successful candidates. International travel costs (by the most direct and economical route) from the fellow’s (beneficiary’s) country to and from Poland will be offered.
The fellows will be offered a one-time special pocket allowance amounting to US$120.
Health insurance will be provided to beneficiaries who are declared medically fit. The fellowship holders could be provided with coverage for a health insurance policy taken out by the organization for the fellowship duration. Besides, UNESCO on behalf of awarded fellows will subscribe to the health insurance and provide coverage for the cost incurred.

UNESCO Poland Fellowship Program 2024 Deadline

If interested, you need to submit the applications by 16^th May 2024 (12:00 a.m. Paris Time).

Submission and Selection of Candidates for UNESCO Fellowship

It should be noted that UNESCO will not accept individual applications because of the intergovernmental character of UNESCO. Thus, only the applications endorsed by the National Commission for UNESCO will be taken into consideration. Therefore, it is required that the applicants need to submit their application documents through the National Commission.
Qualified candidates will be chosen by the National Commission of invited member states and the National Commission will then transmit to UNESCO the Letters of Endorsement plus all application documents of the nominated candidates by the latest 16^th May 2024 (12 a.m. Paris time).
Fellowship recipients’ selection will be done and decided by the concerned authorities of Poland, considering diversity and gender equality. The National Commissions for UNESCO of the chosen candidates (fellows) shall be duly informed by UNESCO.
